Autumn Table Decor Ideas

Looking for autumn table decor ideas that feel warm, cosy and a little bit special? You’re in the right place! Autumn is one of our favourite seasons to style a table, with its rich colours, flickering candlelight and endless pine cones, pumpkins and dried flowers to play with.

Every photo in this post shows a real table we’ve styled for weddings, parties and celebrations. So whether you’re planning an autumn wedding, a milestone birthday or a cosy dinner with friends, there are plenty of ideas here to borrow.

We’ve grouped them by colour palette, so you can jump straight to the look that suits your vibe.

Terracotta and burnt orange

If one colour says autumn, it’s terracotta. It’s a warm earthy brick tone and it works with almost everything, which makes it a brilliant place to start.

For a relaxed, rustic feel, layer hyacinth weave placemats under our jasmine white plates, then add our brick or burnt orange napkins tied in a loose knot. Gold cutlery brings out the warmth in the orange, and a crinkled terracotta table runner pulls the whole table together. Autumn is the perfect season to layer textures so adding crockery with texture is a great way to add the depth and interest if you haven’t got a banquet sized table!

Want something a touch moodier? Swap clear glassware for our smoke water glasses. The darker tint sits beautifully against the orange and natural weave.

For a more formal dinner, go for a crisp white tablecloth and white charger plates with a brushed gold edge. Fold a burgundy napkin across each plate and top it with a pine cone and a wooden name tag. Add bud vases, eucalyptus and tealights down the middle, and you’ve got a table that feels elegant but still cosy.

Styling tip: keep the centre of the table low so guests can chat across it. Tall candles work, but chunky floral displays can block the view.

2. Moody jewel tones

As the evenings draw in, deeper colours really come into their own. Think burgundy, rust and olive green, lit by lots of candlelight.

Our olive napkins look gorgeous against hyacinth weave placemats, especially with amber water glasses catching the light. Add a flowing burnt orange runner, tall taper candles in brass holders and lush dried flower arrangements. Faux sheepskins draped over the chairs make it feel even cosier.

For a richer, more formal look, try burgundy napkins with gold cutlery and cut-glass crystal. Pair them with deep red hydrangeas and ivory pillar candles for real wow factor.

Styling tip: candlelight is your best friend with dark colours. Use more candles than you think you need, and vary the heights.

3. Soft boho neutrals

Not everyone wants bold oranges and reds, and that’s absolutely fine. A soft, neutral palette still feels seasonal, just a little lighter and more relaxed.

Start with hyacinth weave placemats with our Annie plates for natural texture, then add champagne coupes, amber water glasses and gold cutlery for warmth. A sheer, blush runner, taupe taper candles and little terracotta bud vases filled with dried flowers complete the look.

This style is especially lovely outdoors at golden hour, when the low sun makes the amber glass glow.

Styling tip: mix your vases. Different heights and shapes feel more natural and relaxed than a perfectly matching row.

4. Cosy woodland

This one’s pure fun! Picture a walk through the woods but brought indoors, with pine cones, toadstools, fallen leaves and twinkling fairy lights.

A rustic wooden crate filled with moss, pine cones and velvet mushrooms makes a brilliant centrepiece. Scatter leaves and more pine cones down a terracotta table runner, and wrap pillar candles with a leaf and a bit of twine.

At each place, knot an olive napkin and pop a velvet pumpkin on top. Add amber water glasses and gold cutlery, and the table feels warm and welcoming. And for added extra texture, we’ve used our Annie crockery here.

For a more rustic and less subtle take, use a wooden log slice as a charger plate. Drape a burnt orange napkin across it with a place card, and strip the centre piece back by adding a eucalyptus vine down the middle.

5. A dusty blue twist

Want autumn table decor that’s a little bit different? Try blue. It sits opposite orange on the colour wheel, so the two make each other pop.

Here we paired French blue napkins with white charger plates with a brushed gold edge and gold cutlery. A soft blue runner, brass candlesticks and a mix of orange, white and blue mini pumpkins keep it firmly autumnal.

Styling tip: a tiny touch of orange, like a ribbon on the menu or a single rose, ties the whole table back to autumn.

Autumn table decor FAQs

What are some good centrepieces for an autumn table?

Pine cones, mini pumpkins, dried flowers and candles are all easy wins. A wooden crate filled with moss and seasonal bits, or a row of bud vases with dried grasses, works beautifully. Keep centrepieces low so guests can still see each other.

What colours go with autumn table decor?

Terracotta, burnt orange, burgundy, olive green and mustard are classic autumn shades. For something softer, try oat and blush neutrals. For a twist, pair orange with dusty or French blue.

How do I make a table feel cosy for autumn?

Layer natural textures like woven placemats, linen napkins and wood. Add plenty of candlelight at different heights, and use warm toned glassware like our olive, amber or smoke water glasses.

Can I hire autumn tableware instead of buying it?

Yes! Hiring is so much better for the environment. It prevents cheap napkins going to land fill and just being binned after one use. Plus hiring means you get the full look without storing it all afterwards. Our range includes placemats, charger plates, cutlery, napkins and glassware.
